Matt began his apprenticeship as a builder, fulfilling a childhood dream driven by his love for construction, creativity, and working outdoors. He grew up on the northern beaches of Sydney and later moved to Queenstown, New Zealand, in 1999, where he founded his own building company. Over time, he expanded his ventures, eventually owning four companies: a development firm, a construction business, a tile shop, and a joinery.
In 2006, Matt and his team attended the AWISA Show in Sydney, where they first encountered Microvellum. His team was already using AutoCAD but was looking for new software and machinery. He also purchased a Biesse Rover B machine, which allowed him to build custom joinery more efficiently in New Zealand. Microvellum helped his business grow and streamline operations, even though he was new to the joinery industry. Many of his projects included high-end residential work, but he also took on shopfitting and commercial projects for bars, restaurants, stairs, doors, and more. Eventually, Matt sold his businesses, including Formatt Kitchens in 2010, which remains a Microvellum client to this day.
After selling his companies, Matt decided to move back to Australia, where he reached out to Microvellum to see if any customers needed help with the software. He then became an Account Manager at Microvellum and hasn’t looked back since. For the past 14 years, Matt has helped new and existing Microvellum clients grow, not only through the software but also by identifying bottlenecks and streamlining their business processes.
Matt is passionate about helping clients because he understands Microvellum's capabilities. He knows that anything drawn in AutoCAD can be cut out on a CNC machine. His advice to anyone wanting to learn Microvellum is,
"Watch the videos, stick with it, and keep an open mind. It’s amazing what it can do.'
Matt's experience and unwavering dedication to helping the woodworking community make him a reliable asset for businesses looking to optimize their processes.
His account management coverage includes NSW, QLD, VIC, ACT (Australia, China).
