Shopfit UK, a family-run business specializing in bespoke cabinetry, worktops, and retail shopfitting, has been delivering high-quality wood products for over 20 years. Based in Hull, the company’s personalized solutions cater to both residential and commercial sectors, providing custom-made joinery with precision craftsmanship.
Embracing New Markets and Technology for Growth
In response to changing market demands and the need to diversify, Shopfit UK sought to overhaul its workflows. Their investment in an additional CNC machine and Microvellum's AutoCAD-based software marked a significant step in expanding into new markets such as healthcare, laboratory, and office interiors. According to John Fallowfield, the company’s owner, “We needed to modernize our workflows and simplify the design and engineering processes for the complex products typically found outside our current markets.”

Streamlining Cabinet Production with Parametric Design and 3D Modeling
Microvellum’s CAD/CAM solution has enabled Shopfit UK to create parametric products, automate CNC programming, and streamline complex joinery processes. John elaborated, “With Microvellum, we have the power to design and engineer exactly what we want. CNC programs are generated automatically for every part of a project and sent directly to any machine on our production floor, saving us time and reducing errors.”
Expanding Services and CNC Machinery
In addition to cabinetry, Shopfit UK offers CNC machining, spray and polish services, and custom joinery. To support these offerings, they purchased a Morbidelli CX220, integrated with Microvellum to enhance productivity and accommodate future growth.
Looking ahead, Shopfit UK plans to extend their Microvellum solution to MIPOD, their second business, which focuses on glamping pods and shepherd huts. This expansion will integrate the parametric design and CNC-ready solutions into pod construction, further enhancing efficiency and precision across both ventures.
