With over 25 years in kitchen design and manufacturing, The Kitchen Works prides itself on bringing client visions to life. According to Director Graeme Latimer, their team produces around 100 kitchens weekly across the UK. However, the company faced challenges when their old software became unsupported in 2014.
Microvellum, a Flexible Solution to Complex Manufacturing
Graeme and his team sought a new software solution that offered flexibility in creating custom units without limitations. They needed a program capable of producing CNC codes for all machinery and handling project data from other design software to streamline the production process.
After evaluating multiple options, they chose Microvellum for its customizable cabinet libraries, engineering tools, and efficient order workflows. The software allowed them to handle complex, custom units easily and automate production processes, including generating CNC machine programs for their Biesse machinery.
Seamless Integration and Automated Workflows
Microvellum enabled The Kitchen Works to automate tasks from client approval to CNC programming without manual intervention. With the factory equipped with Biesse CNC machinery, including three Biesse Selco Beam saws, Biesse Rover B point-to-point, and others, CNC programs are created within Microvellum and sent directly to each machine.
Today, Microvellum and Biesse are at the core of their operations, and the seamless integration has led to business growth. “We’ve found the perfect recipe for kitchen cabinet manufacturing,” Graeme notes, highlighting how the collaboration between the two systems has optimized their production.
